Indians at Oscars - The Prestigious Academy Awards
A contributor also needs approval and praise to applaud cinema there are various ways.One of the most prestigious ways of celebrating cinema is to award the people, actors, directors, and technicians. Regarding awards, the Academy or Oscar is the most valued and respectable. The Oscars started in 1929, have a dream for every country and film personality; we Indians are blessed enough to have been awarded and applauded various times at the Oscars.
Here is a list of Indians at the Oscars -
- Satyajit Ray - West loved, adored and celebrated Satyajit Ray and his work. He was awarded the honorary Oscars in 1992. Masterpieces like Appu Trilogy, The music room, and many others showed India’s lifestyle, innocence, and truthfulness.
- Bhanu Athiya and Ravi Shankar - Richard Attenborough's collaboration of Bahnu Athiya and Ravi Shankar created a compelling period biographical film called Gandhi in 1982. Bhanu and Ravi Shankar were awarded as Best costume designers for Gandhi.
- Resul Pookutty, Gulzar, and A.R. Rehman - Three music maestros worked on a drama project called “Slumdog Millionaire” in 2008. Each of these artisans was awarded distinguished Oscars that year. Resul Pookutty received an award for “Best sound mixing”, and Gulzaar received accolades for his lyrics for the song “Jai ho” and was given the award for “Best original song”. A.R. Rehman received honours as the “Best original score” creator.
- Guneet Monga - Period, the End of sentence, was a documentary that received an award in the “Best Documentary” cateogry for Gunnet Monga in 2019.
- Kartiki Gonsalves and Gunnet Monga - Guneet Monga did it again at the 2023 Oscars along with Kartiki Gonsalves, as their filmS “The elephant whisperer” was awarded “Best Documentary”.
- M.M. Keeravani and Chandrabose - After making waves on social media and winning at Golden Globes yet again, “Naatu Naatu” was celebrated and performed at the 95th Oscars. M.M. Keeravani and Chandrabose were honoured with an award in the “Best original song” category.
It feels excellent when the world recognises your country through its arts and productions.
